Bringing Nightlife Back to Meatpacking District
Bomba is bringing local nightlife back to the neighborhood, offering adventurous craft cocktails, late-night guilty pleasures, and live DJ performances. I worked with the Bomba team as the creative lead, designing a new visual identity that would revitalize the historical district’s reputation as a nightlife destination: gritty, glamorous, and full of character.

Once a pillar of New York’s legendary nightlife, the Meatpacking District has faded into a posh and soulless destination, overrun with tourists and stripped of its original spark. The challenge was to reintroduce something authentic, something New Yorkers could claim again. The team needed to create a space that felt premium yet approachable, stylish but not exclusive, an experience that welcomed spontaneity without sacrificing quality.

Bomba is envisioned as a nightlife destination that celebrates indulgence without pretense. From its menu of playful craft cocktails to its late-night comfort food, the concept was to pair high-quality offerings with a laid-back fun-loving brand identity, something that would resonate with locals while standing out in a district saturated with safe, upscale experiences. Realizing this required close collaboration across branding, architecture, and interior design to ensure a cohesive experience from the street to the dance floor.

As creative lead, I built a visual identity that channels the spirit of New York nightclubs: bold and expressive, with an energetic pulse. The design system is built on the iconic Bomba sign that evokes a sense of space, motion, and energy. The visual language carries through with its high-contrast black and red color palette and repeating line motif. Vibrant lighting and mirrors throughout the venue brought a level of cohesion and made the space feel more immersive.

Outcomes & Reflection
Bomba has quickly carved out its place in the Meatpacking District as a destination for real nightlife, not just curated aesthetics. It attracts a diverse, energetic crowd looking for something fun, flavorful, and a little offbeat. For me, this project reaffirmed how thoughtful, multidimensional design can help redefine a neighborhood’s narrative. It’s not about recreating the past, it’s about reinterpreting it, with attitude and purpose, for today’s city.
